My Heart Goes out to all the people in Boston..
This week we just happen to be learning about USA symbols, when the tragic Boston Marathon incident happened. My heart goes out to all the families that were involved. One of my best friends lives in Boston so I pick up the phone and made sure she was ok. This week we are learning all about USA symbols. So far we have learned about the American Flag and the Statue of liberty. One of my students even noticed the flag was at half mass and we talked a little bit about this. Here are some pictures of our symbols so far. The statue of liberty was not my creation, I can't remember where I got it from but as soon as i find out I will post the site..

WOW.. Way over Due
I am so sorry it has been such a long time since I have posted. Grad
school is getting the better side of me. I am finally on the down slope of it
all. I can't believe this week we entered the last nine weeks of school.. Very
sad... This month we have been learning all about Plants and Seeds. We took our
lima beans and put them in the window to watch them grow. My students thought
it was so neat. I created a Observation log so that they could look back and
see how their plant has grown. They have enjoyed this so much. I am attaching
pictures below. My goal is to post at least once a week. I am so sorry I have
neglected my blog... Happy Tuesday!!!

Tracking Student's Progress
This year in my district they are very big on tracking students progress. Sometimes it feels like we have way too much paperwork, but I love to look at one sheet of paper and see "at a glance" how a student has progressed during the year. And it's easy to show parents the growth their child has made or the growth they need to make!
I realized I needed an easy way for my students to be able to track their own progress that was age appropriate. We give reading Image It! test and Spelling Test every Friday and then Math test whenever we finish the unit. I wanted an easy way for my students to be able to look at their test and track their progress. I think it will help me keep track of their progress and I plan on sharing this with parents at student progress meetings. I have been using the data folders for 3 weeks now and my students love it. They always ask can I fill out my data sheet!!!! It makes me so happy when they do a little dance to show that there data bar moved up. Pictures of my students graphing their data are coming......If you want to buy this unit please click on the pictures below!!!

Trying to get better
Life has been so busy with teaching 1st grade for the 1st time and being in grad school. I feel like all I do is work work work... We have been learning about habitats in our classroom. My students loved learning about habitats. We made a classroom tree and the students brought in animals to go in our tree. This week we are going to be learning all about Community Helpers. This week we are also voting on who we think should be President, Duck, Grace or Mrs. Williams. I am going to post pictures this week!!! Have a great Monday

Wow... I love 1st grade!!
I am so bad about blogging but it has been very busy.. This is my first year teaching 1st grade so I feel like i am running around trying to figure out what I am suppose to do!! What a difference from Kindergarten to 1st grade. They know how to sit down and write their name and do their work and they still love me. Lets see how I feel in December :) I have such a wonderful class and FSU football has started :) Grad school is killing me, this semester I am taking 1 class for 16 weeks and have to have 120 hours observing my Principal and AP.
How has everyones first couple of weeks been? Share ****
